Barnby through to the next round of Best Kept Village 2018!

Barnby has been successful in getting through to the next round of the Notts Best Kept Village Competition 2018!

The judges will be returning some time between 2nd and 20th July, so can everyone please put in that little bit of extra effort to help keep our village welcoming and looking its best.

The competition is run by the Campaign to Protect Rural England charity (CPRE).  Further info can be found at their website (will take you to an external website).  https://www.hugofox.com/community/cpre-nottinghamshire-10680/about-us/

Party on the Green 2018

Party on the Green 2018

The party on the green seems to get better each year!  Music, food, drink, games and socialising, complete with thunder and rain finale!  The highlight had to be watching Glenn, Howard and Derick get absolutely soaked in the stocks!  The total raised towards the new village signs is yet to be confirmed but if previous years are anything to go by it will be at least £1,000.

As always, special thanks must go to the village events committee and helpers for all their hard work in bringing it together and to all who supported the event to make it such a success.

If you have any photos you’d like to share please email them to villagehall@barnbyinthewillows.com.

Defibrillator box refurbished

Defibrillator box refurbished

Huge thanks to Derick and his helpers, for doing such a fine job of refurbishing the old telephone box, complete with new defibrillator signs and in time for everyone to admire at the party on the green!  I’m sure you’ll agree that this defibrillator box, together with the new church roof make great visual reminders of how supporting village events bring benefits to us all.

All Saints’ Open Church – 14th-17th May & Prayer Walk 16th May 6pm

All Saints’ Open Church – 14th-17th May & Prayer Walk 16th May 6pm

Join in a global wave of prayer

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement which invites Christians around the world to pray between Ascension and Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus Christ.

What started out as an invitation from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York in 2016 to the Church has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer.

Last year over 200 churches and schools across the diocese took part, praying in churches, pubs, country parks and schools. It is hoped that many churches will take part again this year, joining Christians around the world in prayer from May 10th to May 20th.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Wishing everybody a very happy and healthy 2018!

Special thanks go to David, Tanya, Paul and Sandra for doing such a fine job of organising the New Years Eve party at the village hall, complete with excellent party lighting and music to get just about everyone dancing!  Thanks also to the Parish Council for waiving the hire cost of the hall.  £120 was raised for village hall funds and to cover costs.
